The Happy Quilter
A logo created for a local quilter who’s creative passion follows her on her journeys through Minnesota summers and Florida winters, similar to the journey of a monarch, one of her favorites of all God’s creatures.
Quilting… aka storytelling… a lost art.
Kinda like lines in a hand, wrinkles and scars that show a life well-lived, adventures of life traveled – that’s how I treasure the art of quilting. My grandma taught my mom to sew sixty some years before the modern machines available today. Mom sewed her own wedding dress fifty years ago, made clothes for her own children as they grew and taught me how to sew with a simple block quilt at a young age. In fact, I believe the batting (the inside material between the front and back) is my beloved blankie from my youth. (Thanks mom, nice trick!)
She now sews not to fulfill a task, but for peace and a creative outlet. She has a talent with colors and patterns that not many can pull-off. She thinks out of the box and is seasoned with tips and tricks. She enjoys a modern day machine for top-quilting – that fancy design work that isn’t found only at the seams, but decorates the entire face of a quilt, and family members who are lucky enough to receive one know how much careful consideration and love goes into these treasures.
To keep fueling her craft we (my sister and I) talked her into opening an Etsy shop – so of course I thought we should celebrate with a new logo for the virtual establishment! So I invite you to take a sneak peek at The Happy Quilter on Etsy!
