Aitkin Flyers Website
A first website for this organization created to establish their presence on the web. Seemingly dormant and experiencing slow growth, they were looking for a little revival. An increase in community following, volunteers and funding was the goal with new members a plus.
The need for updates to be done internally and on the fly while retaining the site structure was a must. Ease of use for those of all age groups needed to be considered. The site would most likely be viewed from mobile devices, so simplicity was key in design. The multi-purpose site was designed to be a chat-base for members to get meeting updates and input, an introductory platform to those introduced to the sport of flight or looking to gain flight instruction, and a reflection of their enthusiastic community involvement.
A new Kids Club logo and page was created to promote the EAA’s Young Eagle program – which gives children their first flight experience – completely free. Pilots donate their time and fuel for this amazing gift, so support for the program, being financial or otherwise is greatly appreciated. Pilot presentations at the local library help educate and entertain youth, and fun kid activities are highlighted. The program hopes to create awareness for the growing need for pilots. After all, 790,000 new pilots will be needed in the world by 2037, based on Boeing's Pilot and Technician Outlook.
A donation form was made simple enough to fill, print & send. Sponsorship buttons were added to attract not only pilots but the general community as well. Easy sign-up was integrated for families looking to schedule their young eagle flight, pilots to fly them and event volunteers to sign up.
This was such a fun project to work on, what makes it great is the joy these members get in sharing their love of flight in the community. They made an appearance in the World Famous Fish House Parade last year and the group has their Annual Fly-In coming up June 30th which is packed with fun. I can’t wait to see what they come up with next! You can now keep up with their events and happenings at AitkinFlyers.com
